Hot Weather Brings Refrigerator Problems

power point gloucester august 19 blog
It is an unfortunate fact that the hotter temperatures can lead to problems for refrigerators.

This is a result of your fridge having to work harder to keep things cool in the increased air temperature.

There are a number of things you can do to avoid possible problems:

• Keep your fridge clean. Bring it out from its regular place in the kitchen and give the space behind a thorough clean, including dusting and vacuuming the grille at the back.
• Don’t open the door if you don’t have to and don’t leave it open for long periods. Doing so allows hot air into the fridge making it work harder to keep things cool.
• Make sure the fridge has good ventilation. The air needs to circulate freely around it so don’t push it hard up against a wall.
• Check gaskets and seals for possible leaks. Over time they will perish and need replacing.
• Cover food with cling film or put in airtight containers to avoid moisture escaping into the air space of the fridge.
• Although most modern fridges have an auto-defrost programme, it is still worth checking for the build-up of ice.

If you are experiencing problems with your refrigerator, give us a call and we will send one of our expert engineers to take a look for you.
